MOD and MP4 at a glance
MOD
MOD files come from older standard definition camcorders that record to a hard drive or SD card. They hold MPEG-2 video and open in few apps without help.
MP4
MP4 is the most widely supported video format today. Phones record in it by default and almost every player and website accepts it.
Questions
About converting MOD to MP4.
Why is the MP4 smaller than my MOD file?
MOD files hold MPEG-2 video, which needs a lot of space. The MP4 uses H.264, which keeps a similar picture in a smaller file.
My MOD file has several audio tracks. Which one do I get?
All of them. The MP4 file keeps every audio track with its language, and the track marked as default stays the default. Tracks that contain no sound are left out.
Do I need an account?
No. Up to 50 files a day work without an account, and the results have no watermark.
Where are my files stored?
On servers in the EU, and only for 24 hours. After that they are deleted automatically.
