BZ2 and ZIP at a glance
BZ2

ZIP
ZIP packs files and folders into one compressed file. It is the archive format that every computer and phone opens without extra software.
Questions
About converting BZ2 to ZIP.
What will the ZIP contain?
One file: the content of your BZ2, named like your file without the .bz2 ending. If the BZ2 holds a TAR archive, the ZIP contains all files from that archive instead.
How large can the archive be?
Unpacked, the content can be up to 4 GB in at most 20,000 files. Large archives that would unpack to more than 250 times their own size are stopped for safety.
Can I open the ZIP on Windows and Mac?
Yes. Windows File Explorer and macOS Finder open ZIP files without extra software, and so does the Files app on iPhone.
Do I need an account?
No. Up to 50 files a day work without an account, and the results have no watermark.
Where are my files stored?
On servers in the EU, and only for 24 hours. After that they are deleted automatically.
