Questions
About converting EOT to OTF.
Which EOT files work?
EOT files from common web font generators work. EOT files with MicroType Express compression, made by Microsoft's old WEFT tool, are rejected with a message.
Does the font look the same after converting EOT to OTF?
Yes. TrueType curves can be written exactly as the PostScript curves that OTF uses, so the letter shapes stay the same. TrueType hinting is left out, which can make very small text on older Windows screens look slightly softer.
Am I allowed to convert this font?
That depends on its license. Open licenses such as the SIL Open Font License allow it, while many commercial web font licenses do not allow desktop use.
Will the OTF file have a watermark?
No. Converted files never get a watermark, free conversions included.
Where are my files stored?
On servers in the EU, and only for 24 hours. After that they are deleted automatically.
