FLV and MP3 at a glance
FLV
FLV was the video format of Adobe Flash and powered most online video in the 2000s. Flash support ended in 2020, so FLV files from old downloads and recorders now need converting.
MP3
MP3 is the most compatible audio format and plays on practically every device. It keeps files small by removing sounds that are hard to hear.
Questions
About converting FLV to MP3.
What ends up in the MP3 file?
Only the sound. The picture is dropped. If your FLV has several audio tracks, you get the one marked as default, or the first one if none is marked.
What quality does the MP3 have?
By default the MP3 uses a variable bitrate at high quality, which averages around 190 kbit/s for music. You can also choose a fixed bitrate between 96 and 320 kbit/s. If your FLV already contains MP3 audio, the default settings do not lower its sound quality.
Do I need an account?
No. Up to 50 files a day work without an account, and the results have no watermark.
What happens to my files after the conversion?
Your files are processed on servers in the EU and deleted automatically after 24 hours.
